The Hindu Vocabulary For All Competitive Exams 04th May 2023

1. Impregnable (Adjective) : अजेय : incapable of being overcome, challenged, or defeated

Synonyms: invincible, invulnerable, unconquerable

Antonyms: susceptible, vulnerable

Example Sentence: The prison’s impregnable security wall makes it impossible for inmates to leave the grounds.

2. Pluralism (Noun) : the existence of different types of people, who have different beliefs and opinions, within the same society

Synonyms: diversity, heterogeneity, multiplicity, variety

Antonyms: uniformity, similarity, consistency, sameness

Example Sentence: We know it's not easy to maintain pluralism in a country.

3. Vouch (Verb) : गारंटी देना : assert or confirm as a result of one's own experience that something is true

Synonyms: certify, attest, witness, ensure, guarantee

Example Sentence: Ally said she would vouch to her boss that her friend was a strong candidate for the job at her work.

4. Gall And Wormwood (Idiom) : strong feelings of bitterness and resentment.

Synonyms: bitterness, harsh, hatred

Example Sentence:Ever since he lost the election for school president, he only feels gall and wormwood, thinkingof my unworthy opponent.

5. Flimsy (Adjective) : कमज़ोर : comparatively light and insubstantial; easily damaged.

Synonyms: fragile, insubstantial, feeble, light

Antonyms: sturdy, substantial, strong

Example Sentence: The storm flattened the flimsy wooden huts that the villagers lived in.

6. Veracious (Adjective) : सत्यनिष्ठ : honest and not telling or containing any lies

Synonyms: honest, truthful, genuine

Antonyms: mendacious, dishonest, untruthful

Example Sentence: He was a strictly veracious reporter.

7.Complacent (Adjective): आत्मसंतुष्ट: feeling so satisfied with your own abilities or situation that you feel you do not need to try any harder.

Synonyms: pleased, self satisfied

Antonyms: dissatisfied, irritated

Example Sentence: With 66 deaths on our roads every week, none of us can afford to be complacent.

8. Caprice (Noun) : A sudden and unpredictable change of mood or behavior

Synonyms: Whim, Fancy, Fickleness, Impulsiveness

Antonyms: Stability, Constancy, Predictability

Example Sentence:She was known for her caprices, often changing her mind about plans at the last minute.

9. Scramble (Verb): संघर्ष : to move or climb quickly but with difficulty, to move quickly in a disorganized fashion

Synonyms: Clamber, Struggle, Jostle, Rush

Antonyms: Relax, Rest, Surrender

Example Sentence: When the fire alarm sounded, panicky students began to scramble out of every exit.

10. Elusive (Adjective) : difficult to describe, find, achieve, or remember

Synonyms: evasive, fleeting, difficult, inscrutable

Antonyms: Accessible, Attainable, Definite

Example Sentence:After searching for a job for six months with no leads, Marvin started to believe employment was elusive.
